The film spotlights the children's relationship, not understanding, of war and friendship.

Short synopsis:
Florian and Malene are best of friends. Every day the play by the creek. One day the war breaks out and
the two aren't allowed to play with each other because they are on opposite sides of the war.

Content:
The film describes a close relationship between two childs who are not allowed to play with each other
because of the war. The hedge of torns (or the barbwire) is the physical element that seperates them. The
children misunderstands what war is. The explanation that the father gives makes it worse and Florian
wonders if it his and Marlenes "noisy play" by the creek that woke up the war.
The friendship survives the war and the film ends in hope.
